Whelp, it’s official. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow.
So, as the legend goes… we are in for an early spring. And with an early spring, it goes without saying that the daffodils are beginning to pop their heads through last year’s mulch and the dreaded words “spring cleaning” are being added to the “honey-do-list”.
According to Marie Kondo, I should choose “joy” and happily complete my tidying adventures. In my opinion, she’s in cahoots with Punxsutawney Phil and conspiring to kick off the spring cleaning frenzy prematurely while the forecast still calls for twenty degree lows.
Despite my pessimism, I have decided to embrace the fact that spring has sprung and it’s time to open the garage door and let the cool air in.
Once the door opened, I dug deep to find the spring-fueled optimism needed to tackle the project. Looking around, I noticed the disarray from the winter months. The remnants of holiday decorations littered the garage like a glittery battle field. Random garbage bags of ‘90s clothing, which have been in and out of my trunk, are still destined for Goodwill and tucked into a corner. Large Tupperware containers have the lids half off with random extension cords hanging over the edge. Half empty paint cans from home improvement projects before the holidays are stacked on shelves dripping with dried paint and hopelessness. As I literally dusted off the golf clubs and Barbie Jeep, I had a realization. I don’t have to go through this every “spring”. I can choose “joy”. I can’t fold my way to happiness in the garage (Kondo Style), but I can still make it “ideal.”
Enter – Ideal Garage Solutions!
Here are a few things I considered while tackling this project. I call them the 3 P’s…
1) Preparation:
Clearing out the garage was priority #1. Let’s face it. I’m pretty sure the paint in the paint cans was older than me and I know for a fact that my 12 year old daughter won’t fit in the Barbie Jeep. The task seemed daunting. So I started at my computer. Google search: “How do I get rid of old stuff in garage”… After hours of research (my husband called it stalling), I finally discovered that Ideal Garage Solutions could help. They provided temporary storage and even a team to help me move the Goodwill bags back into my trunk. It was easy.
2) More Paint:
I did end up tossing the “Tuscan Sun” paint, but Ideal Garage Solutions brought in fresh white paint (floor to ceiling) and gave my garage a face lift. It is so much brighter and immediately looked cleaner. That’s when I actually felt like the daffodil rushing spring!
3) Planning:
Ideal Garage Solutions offered a FREE initial consultation. You hear that phrase all of the time, but seriously… it was FREE and actually kind of fun. I even let my Husband join! (Hee hee) Their design experts offered a variety of solutions. A custom floor plan using 3D imagery was created with their specially designed software. I’m so excited!
I’ve happily embraced the “joy” and with this ideal plan, I can abandon my conspiracy theories and enjoy the spring.
With a little bit of organization and help from Ideal Garage Solutions, you can whip your garage into shape now, so that your “spring cleaning” can start a bit later next year – no matter what Punxsutawney Phil says!
